What: Interpreting and Measuring Indicators of Rangeland Health (NTC# 1730-37).  Taught by specialists from BLM, USGS, ARS, and NRCS.

Where: Reno, NV

When: May 1-4, 2018

How: Go to the Department of Interior Learning Center public page and either log in (DOI employees) or request a new account (non-DOI employees) for public catalog course 1730-37.  Register by March 30.

Objective: Participants will learn how to apply recent revisions to the “Interpreting Indicators of Rangeland Health” qualitative evaluation protocol and learn how to quantify (measure) selected core indicators. The class has been revised this year to incorporate components of a revision of Version 4 to a provisional Version 5. Version 5 includes considerable changes in format, modifications to some of the 17 indicators (including how the Functional/Structural Groups indicator is assessed), and supporting information to conduct an IIRH assessment. Interpretations made with Version 5 should be consistent with those made with Version 4 at the attribute level provided that similar reference information is used. Field staff familiar with Version 4 are encouraged to participate in this training given the changes made and the opportunity to provide feedback on the final Version 5 publication.
