Honest, transparent conversations: Keys for effective tribal collaboration
Webinar recording.
Trees, Water & People, a Colorado-based not-for-profit organization, works to address conservation and equity through meaningful engagement with Tribal Nations, adhering to Tribes’ unique ecological knowledge systems and lived experiences in co-existence with landscape scale stewardship. Most importantly, honest, transparent conversations are key to establishing working collaborations with Tribes focused on conservation or post-fire response. Our engagement model demonstrates the appropriate approach to engage with Tribes while respecting their sovereignty, honoring their decision-making processes, and acknowledging the balance of western science with Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
